I'm 51 and have recently loss of hair due to psoriasis on the scalp. Any easy Solutions?

If you have lost just small areas of hair on your scalp then it's ok to try dandruff shampoo or neutrogena t gel shampoo to help control it. If I only have a few specks I use dandruff shampoo and if it's worse I opt for the second choice. However, if you've lost quite a bit of hair due to the severity of the psoriasis I urge you to stay away from over the counter medicines and consult your doctor. The other remedies take a long time to take effect with a slow process of healing. If it's really bad you need something stronger. I really hope that helps you and good luck :)I'm 51 and have recently loss of hair due to psoriasis on the scalp. Any easy Solutions?
I suffer psoriasis also, and so does a coworker.

My coworker also has thinning hair due to psoriasis she uses ointments that dont seem to work so i recomended that she ask her Dr. about enbrel. He precribed this for her and like me, her psoriasis is starting to clear up. She is also starting to look alot fuller on top.

Enbrel works great for me. If you dont have ins. though it wont help ya out because it is very expensive.I'm 51 and have recently loss of hair due to psoriasis on the scalp. Any easy Solutions?
My answer is about psoriasis itself. Two things that may be worth a try are:

1. Dietary - avoid tomatoes, peppers and others in the nightshade family. Also avoid yeast extracts (marmite etc). Not a quick fix but easy and free to do so may be worth a go for say 3 months to see if it helps.

2. Supplementation - high dose zinc (30 - 40 mg a day) may help. Must be done only under medical supervision.

These have been known to help with this difficult condition and are both easy and free or cheap.
try some tea tree oil shampoo
there are sprays that have tiny fibers that match your hair colour, so it can cover any thin spots. sorry i can't remember the name but it's on www.skymall.com
neutrogena has a shampoo line for people with psoriasis.
