What to do about cat's loss of hair?

I have a long haired calico cat and for the last 5-6 months her hair has been falling out around the tail area. She is eating and drinking, and playing with the other cats. I could really use an answer. She also looks like she has lost some weight. Help? What to do about cat's loss of hair?
She needs to see a vet, the symptoms you describe could be hyperthyroidism. She will need a blood test to confirm this and the vet will be able to treat it.What to do about cat's loss of hair?
yes a agree is sounds like your cat needs it thyroid checked, My niece has a golden retriver that lost all the hair on its tail and sure enough when he went to the vet thats the first thing they said then they did a blood test and sure enough now the dog has to take a pill once a day but all the hair on his tail has grown back-talk to the vet!
it is probably because it is becoming warmer, my cat is doing the same thing. he always does this around this time. or it might have food poisoning. check with your local vet.
I had a cat that suddenly started cheewing off his fur-mostly around the tail area since he could reach it the easiest. The vet asked a lot of questions--like had we moved recently or started keeping him inside--he eventually decided it was a nervous thing he was doing for some reason since ALL the tests ran came back normal. He eventually stopped doing it and his fur grew back just fine. Take her to the vet just to rule out a serious issue.

best of luck.
